AMERICAS
I have to admit that our 2018 trip to British Columbia and the Great Bear Rainforest was our first time in North America. Prior to that adventure this section would have been entitled Latin America or the Neotropics. It’s just that from a pure wildlife photography perspective, rather than nature in general, Central and South America has always had more of an appeal. Our introduction to the Neotropics was when we visited Costa Rica in 2011. My original travel journal entry for that particular trip was quite brief so it wasn’t included. Similarly with regards to our short stay in the Ecuadorian Andes prior to our trip to Galápagos in 2015.
Having returned to Costa Rica in 2019, the write-up has been greatly extended and is now included. It provides some general information about the country before continuing as a trip report. I’ve adopted a not dissimilar format for the entries about our time in Galápagos, Peru and the Great Bear Rainforest as they were individual trips, whereas the article about the Southern Pantanal is more of an informative piece about the place itself.
